While many auto repair shops are legitimate, there are always those unscrupulous few that end up sucking thousands of unnecessary repair dollars from consumers.

Your Better Business Bureau® is warning businesses and consumers of a email phishing scam using BBB’s trusted name. There are two versions of the phishing scam that use a false BBB e-mail address to entice recipients to access potentially damaging hyperlinks and attachments. Neither our database, or e-mail system have not been compromised by these attacks.

An email scam using BBB's name and logo continues to proliferate. Most of the emails contain the subject line “Complaint from your customers" and have a link or attachment containing phishing malware that steals information.

This could happen at ANY retail outlet!
This incident happened a couple weeks ago. Several items were purchased at a local retail store that totaled over $150. When the customer looked at the receipt the cashier was handing them, they noticed the receipt indicated a cash-back of $40.

Veterans Day is one where we take time to honor those who have served our country. It’s also a time when scammers come out to take advantage of our veterans and active duty military personnel. BBB wants to make sure those who serve us do not become victims of fraud.
Veteran’s scams can take many forms. BBB provides the following information on different types of offers and scams that can put our Veterans at jeopardy of becoming victims of fraud, paying more for items than they should or identity theft.

Hundreds of people across the United States have reported receiving an email claiming to be from StubHub referencing an order for a Boxing event that the recipient did not place. This is a phishing email to gather personal information from you.

Better Business Bureau warns that potentially deceptive door-to-door magazine sales crews are hitting the pavement looking to earn a quick buck. In the last 12 months, BBB has received over 600 complaints from consumers across the country, about companies selling magazines door-to-door.
