While many auto repair shops are legitimate, there are always those unscrupulous few that end up sucking thousands of unnecessary repair dollars from consumers.

Your Better Business Bureau® is warning businesses and consumers of a email phishing scam using BBB’s trusted name. There are two versions of the phishing scam that use a false BBB e-mail address to entice recipients to access potentially damaging hyperlinks and attachments. Neither our database, or e-mail system have not been compromised by these attacks.

An email scam using BBB's name and logo continues to proliferate. Most of the emails contain the subject line “Complaint from your customers" and have a link or attachment containing phishing malware that steals information.

This could happen at ANY retail outlet!
This incident happened a couple weeks ago. Several items were purchased at a local retail store that totaled over $150. When the customer looked at the receipt the cashier was handing them, they noticed the receipt indicated a cash-back of $40.
